UA professor plans
talk on cosmology

FreeThought Arizona is offering a free talk by Christopher D. Impey, “Humble Before the Void,” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the DuVal Auditorium at University of Arizona Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell Ave.

Impey, a UA professor and researcher on observational cosmology and the evolution and structure of the galaxies, has been visiting the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains for five years to teach cosmology to Buddhist monks. The program was started by the Dalai Lama. Impey, a past vice president of the American Astronomical Society, will speak about where religion and science meet, and how cosmology can be presented to people with limited science background from a very different culture.
