Families get in free to Saturday SCIFest
Children will have an opportunity to celebrate science Saturday at the Children's Museum Tucson.
The Family SCIFest event will allow young people to explore science through hands-on demonstrations and experiments.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors contributed $3,000 to underwrite free admission to the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Admission to the museum, 200 S. Sixth Ave., will continue to be free after SCIFest until 5 p.m.

Academy of Tucson to host open houses
The Academy of Tucson charter school is hosting open house events at all three of its campuses.
The first of the four information sessions will be held Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by open houses at the same time on March 12, April 16 and May 7.
The elementary school serves grades K-4 and is located at 9209 E. Wrights-town Road.
The middle school serves grades five through eight and is located at 7310 E. 22nd St.
The high school serves grades nine through 12 and is located at 10720 E. 22nd St.
Green Fields to host star party, open house
Green Fields Country Day School is throwing a star party and Open House Wednesday.
Telescopes, astronomers and a roundup of food trucks will be on hand at the independent school, 6000 N. Camino de la Tierra, starting at 5 p.m.

Open enrollment talk at Catalina Foothills
Catalina Foothills High School is hosting an open house Wednesday. Tours of the campus will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by an information session at 6 p.m.

Desert Christian information sessions
Desert Christian Schools is holding a Middle School Information Night next Monday.
Parents of sixth- through eighth-graders can learn about the independent school's curriculum.

District financial info now available online
The Pima County Superintendent's Office has launched a financial transparency website.
It's a searchable site that details financial transactions for 15 of the 17 school districts in Pima County.
It does not contain information for Tucson's largest school districts - TUSD and Sunnyside - which manage their financial operations independently.
The site has data beginning with the fiscal year ended June 30 and will be updated monthly:
