Renowned violinist and Native American flute player Arvel Bird will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Abounding Grace Sanctuary, 2450 S. Kolb Road, as part of the Live Acoustic Venue Association's concert series.
Bird was originally scheduled to perform at Abounding Grace on Jan. 19 but had to cancel due to an arm injury that resulted from a fall.
Bird is known at venues around the world for his dramatic connection between Scottish (Clan Kennedy) and Native American (Southern Paiute) traditions. His early training in classical violin, combined with his years on the road with Glen Campbell, Loretta Lynn, Louise Mandrell, Clay Walker, Tom T. Hall, Ray Price and others, have helped shape a style and a presence that is all his own. He has released 20 CDs and two DVDs.
A favorite with LAVA audiences, Bird's performances blend his fiddle, Native American flutes and Celtic whistles into lively instrumentals with inspirational and funny stories that pull listeners into his world of music and songs.
