Vail Chorale seeking singers for fall shows

Voices are needed for The Vail Chorale, a community group planning a fall concert called "Choral Gems."

No audition is necessary, just a love of singing. Rehearsals will begin on Aug. 14 and continue from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays at Cienega High School, 12775 E. Mary Ann Cleveland Way.

The chorale is especially in need of tenor and bass singers, but all singers are welcome.

The fall concert will take place Nov. 9 and 16 at Academy Village's Arizona Senior Academy, and at another location yet to be determined.

The chorale will be performing well-known works by composers such as Dowland, Elgar, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Fauré, Puccini and Mozart.

You may preview most of the music the chorale will be performing at tinyurl.com/thevailchorale online in the folder titled "Fall 2013 Music."

For more information and to sign up, email thevailchorale@ gmail.com or call the chorale's director, Fred Reinagel, at 647-3801.

Health-care reform film to be screened

The film "Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare" will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at Unity of Tucson, 3617 N. Camino Blanco Place.

The movie is presented by IONS Tucson, the Tucson Community Group of the Institute of Noetic Sciences.

According to IONS Tucson, "The movie tackles one of the most pressing issues of our time: what can be done to save our broken medical system? This award-winning film follows dramatic human stories as well as leaders fighting to transform health care at the highest levels of medicine, industry, government, and even the U.S. military. Tucson's own Dr. Andrew Weil and others speak out on the need for drastic changes in the way we approach health care, offering concepts for solutions, which are gaining ground on various levels."

There's a suggested donation of $5. For more information call 399-8285 or go to www.ionstucson.org online.
