As the name implies, the Parent-Tot class at Congregation Anshei Israel involves both children and parents but can include caregivers, nannies, babysitters, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
The program is for children 9 to 24 months old and takes place every Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m., said facilitator Heather Gordon.
The class is free and has open enrollment, Gordon said. The congregation is at 5550 E. Fifth St.
The children and adults are involved in free play, outdoors activities, a snack, plus art and story time, she said.
There is also an outside source activity such as a dance class once a month.
Children can learn their colors, numbers, words and social development during the class, Gordon said.
Mothers come and share ideas, recipes and even some parental advice when attending the classes, she added.
Director of preschool kindergarten Lynne Falkow-Strauss said there is no limit to the number of parents and tots the program can handle, and it follows the school calendar.
Children attending the program should be capable of walking, Falkow-Strauss said.
