Stitch by stitch, members of the Voyager RV Resort Quilters II club create memories and art.

The club put that art on display Monday during a show in the RV resort's ballroom.

"You have a lot of different degrees to look at, from beginning to expert," said attendee Nora Briggs.

More than 130 quilts were on display during the one-day event at Voyager, 8701 S. Kolb Road, and attendees had a chance to vote for their favorite.

"It's very inspirational to attend a show - it charges me up to finish my quilts," Briggs said.

Some 675 people came and went throughout the day to see the classic and modern-style quilts.

"It's not just grandmothers' pieced quilts anymore," show co-chair Billye Reynolds said. With computerized sewing machines and new technology, quilts are becoming more modern.

"The new technology, it's revolutionized it," co-chair Susie Johansson said, citing examples of quilts made with objects such as beads, buttons and yarn.

"Everybody has had a grandma or mother who used to quilt," Reynolds said. "Quilting was becoming a lost art, but it's coming back now."
