Yvonne Verdugo of Tucson admitted Tuesday that she helped her husband and others transport and sell marijuana across state lines.
She could be placed on probation or sent to prison for up to 3 3/4 years after pleading guilty to attempted illegally conducting an enterprise. She will be sentenced by Pima County Superior Court Judge Jane Eikleberry on April 15.
Verdugo's husband, Victor Manuel Verdugo, 36, was one of 18 people indicted in December 2010 as part of a marijuana ring that used uniformed U.S. military personnel to smuggle drugs through the Tohono O'odham Nation and the Nogales port of entry. He recently pleaded guilty to illegally conducting an enterprise and attempted possession of marijuana for sale and will be sentenced to between 2 1/2 and 14 years in prison on March 12.
