Tucson police are asking the public for help in finding a man who robbed a Bank of America Monday afternoon.

The man also is believed to have attempted to rob another Bank of America branch earlier on Monday, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Widmer gave the following account:

At about 1:30 p.m., a man dressed in a purple shirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes and a golfer's cap walked into Bank of America at 6285 E. Broadway.

The man was carrying a black suitcase and had a cane. He walked with a limp. He is believed to have been wearing makeup, or may have had a mask on his face.

The man handed a bag to a teller and ordered the teller to fill it with money. He left with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown direction.

At about noon Monday, a man wearing a wig and makeup or a mask, walked into Bank of America, 2885 N. Campbell Ave. He was wearing an AC/DC shirt and black pants.

The man handed a bag to a teller and told the teller to fill it up with money. The teller, who was behind a bullet-proof shield, refused to give money to the man. He left the bank and was last seen headed west on foot.

No one was injured in either incident.

The man, who was caught on surveillance video at both branches, was described as 6 feet 3 inches tall with a medium build. He was bald with possible burn scars on his cheeks.

Anyone with information can call 911 or 88-CRIME.
