A 42-year-old woman arrested at a recent DUI checkpoint had a stabbing victim and her daughters as passengers, Pima County authorities say.
Rebecca M. Gomez, 42, was at a checkpoint at South Palo Verde Road and East Aviation Parkway about 10:30 p.m. Saturday when deputies noticed a large amount of blood on the driver's side door.
The 57-year-old passenger was covering the back of his head and his ear, and blood was dripping down his arm, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department news release.
Deputies learned he had been stabbed in the head during a fight and had been driving the pickup truck before handing the wheel to Gomez.
They administered first aid to the man before paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital.
Meanwhile, Gomez was being questioned when a deputy noted alcohol on her breath. They soon determined Gomez had lost her license in a prior DUI case.
Gomez was booked into Pima County jail on suspicion of child abuse and aggravated DUI for driving under the influence while her license was suspended or revoked for DUI.
