A shoplifter caught with a purse full of merchandise assaulted a store employee with a soda can before fleeing the scene.

Detectives from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department robbery/assault unit are looking for the woman described as in her 20s with reddish hair.

The woman was seen at about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 11, by employees of the TJ Maxx store, 6230 N. Oracle Road, putting clothing — including shoes and underwear — in her purse, Deputy Tom Peine, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a press release.

“When the loss prevention employee of the store confronted the suspect, she pushed him out of the way and then threw a soda can at him striking him in the chest,” Peine said.

Anyone with information about the identity or the whereabouts of the woman should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
