A former Tucson man who was convicted of molesting his daughter 12 years ago will be sentenced in October.

Pima County Superior Court Judge Paul Tang scheduled Frank Hertel’s sentencing for Oct. 22 to give his defense attorney time to prepare and his daughter time to return to Arizona.

Hertel, 49, fled the country in August of 2000 after posting bond. He was tried in absentia and found guilty of sexual conduct with a minor and is facing between 13 and 27 years in prison.

Authorities arrested him in Germany last October after his daughter tracked him down.

At the time of his arrest, Hertel's daughter, Heather Orr, now 29, told the Star she’s writing a book about her experience.
