A 46-year-old man was arrested on charges of trying to lure a minor for sex, Tucson police said.

Ismael Delgado is facing one count of luring a minor for sex and one count of attempted sexual conduct with a minor. He was booked into the Pima County jail.

Tucson police said Delgado approached a young girl on April 24 inside the Martha Cooper Branch Library, 1377 N. Catalina Ave., and began a conversation.

Delgado began asking her personal questions and rubbing her arm, police said in a news release. Before leaving, he provided his phone number to the girl.

The girl reported the incident to the librarian, her parents and the police. Later, detectives spoke with the girl and the library staff.

Detectives learned Delgado wanted to meet the girl for sexual purposes, believing she was 14 years old, police said.

Delgado was arrested on Monday when he went to a business in the 4500 block of East Speedway thinking he was going to meet up with the girl.
