An infant who authorities said was choked multiple times by his babysitter last week, has died.

Last Friday, Jeremy Millis, 28, was arrested on charges of physically abusing the 8-month-old child of his former girlfriend.

He was caring for the baby while the child’s mother was at work. When the mother returned and found her baby “unresponsive,” she took him to a hospital.

The baby was in critical condition and intensive care at a hospital until just before 3 a.m. today when he was removed from life support, Deputy Tom Peine, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a press release.

Millis, who had previously been released from jail on bond, was re-arrested at his parents house this morning. He was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder Peine said.
