The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Alejandro and Gerardo Guerena, who are wanted for drug trafficking and money laundering.
Deputies believe the brothers may be hiding in the Sonora cities Caborca or Oquitoa.
In a recently unsealed 29-count indictment, the brothers, along with five other people, are accused of trafficking and selling nearly $5 million worth of marijuana from 2005 until 2011.
Alejandro Guerena’s wife, Pauline, her sister Denise Ruiz, and their father Jose Rafael Celaya, were arrested on May 9 on drug trafficking and money laundering charges. Pauline Guerena and Denise Ruiz were released to pretrial services and Celaya posted a $50,00 bond
Deputies have been investigating the Guerena brothers since 2009.
Last May, the SWAT team raided four homes connected to the Guerenas and their relatives and seized cash and several other items.
SWAT team officers fatally shot 26-year-old Jose Guerena in one of the homes after he pointed a rifle at officers.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Alejandro and Gerardo Guerena is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME(882-7463).
