Oro Valley police are investigating the deaths of an elderly couple as a possible homicide-suicide.

Officers found the couple - Clarence R. Shaub, 78, and Doris J. Shaub, 76 - Tuesday when responding to a call requesting a welfare check at their Sun City home, Lt. Kara Riley, spokeswoman for Oro Valley police, said in a news release.

The couple lived in the 13000 block of North Tom Ryans Way.

Riley said relatives said Clarence Shaub had an unspecified debilitating disease and that police found notes left by Doris Shaub.

According to Riley, preliminary results of the investigation indicate that Doris Shaub shot her husband and then herself.

Riley said officers went to the home after a relative of the Shaubs got a message from Doris Shaub.
