Oro Valley police will conduct traffic deployments on North Oracle Road at West Suffolk Drive and at West Magee Road beginning March 11.

In a program called High Visibility Enforcement, officers will target the town's most accident-prone intersections, said Lt. Chris Olson, special operations supervisor for the Oro Valley Police Department.

Police hope the enforcement will increase motorists' awareness on the road and reduce crashes because of inattention, tailgating and failing to yield to other drivers, said Olson.

Six motorcycle officers will be deployed at Oracle and Magee, and at Oracle and Suffolk on:

• March 11 from 7 to 10 a.m.

• March 15 from 4 to 7 p.m.

• March 26 from 7 to 10 a.m.

• March 28 from 4 to 7 p.m., and

• March 29 from 4 to 7 p.m.

The traffic deployments began last September, and have resulted in less collisions at Oracle and Magee, said Olson.

However, there was an increase in rear-end collisions at Oracle and Suffolk, which is a heavily congested area, Olson said.
