A Tucson man riding a motorcyle was killed after he crashed into a pickup Saturday on the Sonoita Highway, the Department of Public Safety says.

Arthur Francis Roper, 68, was killed in the two-vehicle crash on Arizona 83 at milepost 37.2 shortly before 3:30 p.m.

The pickup driver was headed north on the highway and was making a left turn onto Gardner Canyon Road, DPS said.

Roper, riding a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle, tried to overtake the 2003 Ford truck and collided with its left side, DPS said.

The truck's driver and passenger, both from Livingston, Texas, were not injured, the agency said.
