A bar fight at the Outlaw Saloon last week sent one man to a hospital and left his mother and a friend injured, authorities said Wednesday.
The fight started about 2:40 a.m. on Feb. 17 as a 45-year-old woman, her 21-year-old son and a friend, 40, left the bar at 1302 W. Roger Road near North Flowing Wells Road, Deputy Tom Peine, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department, said in a news release.
The trio stopped to smoke on their way to the parking lot and a group of men and women "came out of the bar and approached them making antagonistic remarks directed at (the woman's) son. The taunting continued and suddenly the behavior escalated into a physical assault," Peine said.
When the mother tried to intervene and stop the attack on her son, the group turned on her, "knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the face. The 40-year-old male victim was also beaten and kicked."
The victims did not know their attackers, Peine said. The son was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released.
Detectives obtained security video from the bar and are attempting to identify the people involved.
