A man wanted for his possible connection in a high-end October burglary walked into the Pima County jail Thursday night and asked how he could post bond on himself.

Carlos Alonso Zavalza-Molina, 21, was told he’d have to be arrested first. And he was, according to Deputy Tom Peine, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

He was booked on suspicion of second degree burglary, theft of credit card and trafficking in stolen property for the Oct. 17 break-in  at a home near North Camino de Oeste and West Sweetwater Drive.

Zavalza-Molina was arrested in connection with the theft an estimated $30,000 in jewelry — including several high-end watches — and an American Express card. Hours after the burglary, he is suspected of going on a two-hour shopping spree with the stolen credit card, ringing up $900 in purchases, including diapers, at a variety of stores.

An anonymous tipster called the PCSD after recognizing the alleged thief on security video released by detectives, Peine said.
