NOGALES, Ariz. — A man was killed in Nogales when the stolen truck he was driving hit a tree and caught fire.

The Nogales International reports that the truck's driver abruptly backed up after apparently spotting law enforcement officers checking vehicles heading into Mexico on Sunday.

The newspaper reports that the truck hit two pedestrians who were not seriously injured and then struck a Border Patrol vehicle.

With a Border Patrol agent in pursuit, the truck hit a tree and caught fire after losing control on a curve under a bridge.
