A 42-year-old man turned himself in to Tucson police Thursday after investigators located a sophisticated marijuana growing operation in his house and a warehouse.

Ronald James Sisco is facing charges of unlawful possession of marijuana for sale, unlawful cultivation of marijuana for sale, unlawful possession of narcotic paraphernalia and child abuse, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Sisco was booked into the Pima County jail.

During the investigation, detectives found out that Sisco had his nearly 2-year-old child living with him, Widmer said. The child is believed to be with family members, and not in danger, said Widmer.

According to Widmer:

On March 14 at about 5:30 p.m., officers of the South Tucson Police Department who were on patrol noticed an odor of fresh marijuana in the area of South Sixth Avenue and West 35th Street.

Tucson police were called in to assist, and detectives from the multiagency Counter Narcotics Alliance task force obtained a search warrant for a warehouse, which was partially converted into a residence. The building was on a fenced lot.

The warehouse had a "sophisticated marijuana growing operation." Detectives found 356 marijuana plants growing inside the residence and more than 53 pounds of cultivated hydroponic marijuana in both the residence and warehouse.

Detectives also found $18,000 in cash.
