Tucson police homicide detectives were investigating the death of a 24-year-old man found in a car on a central street in the city Tuesday morning.

The man, who suffered from signs of trauma, was identified as Antonio Alvarez, said Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

Shortly after 7 a.m., Tucson Fire Department paramedics were dispatched to the 5400 block of East Burns Street after a 911-caller reported a man lying inside a vehicle parked in the street, Hawke said.

The neighborhood is north of East Broadway and west of North Craycroft Road.

Paramedics determined that the man was dead, and called for Tucson police.

The man was found inside a dark-colored sedan. No further description of the car was released.

Investigators believe the man died late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, Hawke said.

Anyone with information about the death of Alvarez is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
