A 38-year-old man was shot to death Wednesday evening in South Tucson, police said.

Police officers responded to the 2000 block of South Sixth Avenue at about 6:50 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting, according to a South Tucson Police Department news release.

When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His name was not released.

Detectives were interviewing witnesses Wednesday night, but no further information was available.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
