Man charged in Circle K robbery after chase SW of Tucson

A man was arrested in connection with a convenience store robbery after leading deputies on a chase Wednesday night on Tucson’s southwest side, officials said.

Pima County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a robbery call at a Circle K store in the 4600 block of West Valencia Road about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday and learned a gunman had taken cash, booze and cigarettes, the agency said in a news release.

Deputies soon found a Pontiac Sunfire matching the one used by the robber driving near the 2800 block of Los Reales Road.

The driver sped off and a chase started until after the driver struck tire spikes near Camino de la Tierra and Avenida Isabel.

The driver was apprehended after a short foot chase.

Julio Christopher Martinez, 28, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, unlawful flight from law enforcement and drug possession. He was booked into the Pima County jail.
