A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal July shooting outside a motel on Tucson’s south side, police said.

Ramon Rodriguez, was arrested at his home Thursday and was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of one count each of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault and prohibited possessor, Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson police spokesman said in a news release.

Rodriguez is suspected of shooting 27-year-old David Rodriguez at the Rodeway Inn, 1031 E. Benson Highway, on the afternoon of July 30. It was not immediately known if the men were related.

Witnesses reported that two groups of people were fighting in the parking lot of the hotel when several shots were fired.

David Rodriguez and a woman were taken to the hospital for treatment of their gun shot wounds. He died a short time later.
