An early morning fire damaged the exterior of the Greater Littletown Food Bank.

Several people called 911 around 1:30 a.m. to report smoke and flames coming from the building in the 6400 block of South Craycroft Road, near East Valencia Road, Capt. Chris Jurvig, a Tucson Fire Department spokesman said in a news release.

Several pallets outside the building caught fire and firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading inside the building, the release said.

Crews also had to use a circular saw to cut open parts of the building to "extinguish hidden fire in the void spaces," the release said.

The Pima County Health Department was called to the fire because food was being stored in the building.
