A Tucson attorney who handles bankruptcy and family-law cases has been disbarred for abandoning his practice.
Grady Wade, 38, abandoned his clients after he was arrested in December 2011 following a hit-and-run crash, according to a statement issued by the State Bar of Arizona. He didn't refund unearned fees to his clients and didn't respond to the bar's investigation, a news release said.
Wade owes 11 clients a total of $31,200, must participate in fee arbitration with five clients and owes the bar $7,350.75 for the cost of the legal proceedings against him.
Arizona Supreme Court's online records don't show any information about the December 2011 arrest, but do indicate he failed to pay fines associated with a ticket he received in October 2011 for not having current registration.
The disbarment went into effect Oct. 31. A telephone number listed for Wade has been disconnected.
