Man killed in wreck on Tucson's SE side
A 22-year-old Tucson man was killed Sunday night in a crash on the city's southeast side, police said.
Daniel Jacob Drakin Hart was killed when the 1988 Chevrolet Caprice he was driving smashed into a concrete pole, fire hydrant and a metal utility pole about 9:45 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve in the 2100 block of South Pantano Road near East Golf Links Road, said Sgt. Chris Widmer.
Hart was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Man pleads guilty in Sept. 2011 slaying
Arcadio Arias Chavez faces between five and 16 3/4 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to manslaughter and attempted possession of marijuana for sale for his role in the September 2011 slaying of Arturo Arvizu.
Chavez, Josue Hernandez, Raul Martinez and Elmer Barrera-Grijalva were indicted in 2011 on one count each of first-degree murder and kidnapping in connection with Arvizu's death.
Arvizu was found dead in a vehicle in the 6000 block of South Fontana Avenue on Sept. 25, 2011.
At Monday's change-of-plea hearing in Pima County Superior Court, Chavez's legal defender, Michael Carrillo, said Chavez contacted Arvizu to give him a sample of marijuana to sell. Arvizu went to Chavez's apartment, where another co-defendant beat him, put him in a car and shot him, Carrillo said.
As part of the plea agreement, Chavez will testify in the trial of the other co-defendants. Judge Christopher Browning is scheduled to sentence Chavez on June 17.

3 boys cited in fire started by fireworks
Three boys were cited for reckless burning Monday after they allegedly set off fireworks that started a brush fire in the Santa Cruz River channel in Marana, authorities said.
The boys - two 11-year-olds and a 15-year-old - were released to their parents, said Sgt. Jose Alvarez, a Marana Police Department spokesman.
After the fire began, the boys alerted a person walking nearby who called 911, Alvarez said.
Northwest Fire District firefighters were dispatched shortly before 5 p.m. to the site between Twin Peaks and Cortaro Farms roads, said Capt. Adam Goldberg, a district spokesman.
The fire, fueled by heavy brush and wind, was brought under control by about a dozen firefighters in one hour, he said. About a half-acre was burned.

Bank robber sought in Monday incidents
Tucson police are asking the public for help in finding a man who robbed the Bank of America, 6285 E. Broadway, on Monday afternoon.
The man also is believed to have attempted to rob another Bank of America branch at 2885 N. Campbell Ave. earlier on Monday, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman. Widmer gave the following account:
In the first robbery, the robber wore a wig and makeup or a mask, an AC/DC shirt and black pants. He handed a bag to a teller and demanded money. The teller, who was behind a bulletproof shield, refused, and the man left.
In the second bank, the robber was dressed in a purple shirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes and a golfer's cap. He carried a black suitcase, had a cane and walked with a limp. He is believed to have been wearing makeup, or may have had on a mask. He ordered a teller to fill a bag, and he left with an undisclosed amount of money.
No one was injured in either incident.
The man, seen on surveillance video, was described as about 6 feet 3 inches tall with a medium build. He was bald with possible burn scars on his cheeks. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
