Woman found dead in desert is identified
A woman found dead in a desert area south of the Foothills Mall last week has been identified as Linda Sue Grow, 49, according to authorities.
A passer-by found Grow's body April 10 in the 2200 block of West Ina Road.
The body appeared to have been "in the elements for an extended period of time," a Pima County sheriff's official said last week.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call call 911 or 88-CRIME.
Probation for caregiver in abuse of boy, 3
A child-care provider accused of abusing a 3-year-old boy in her care was sentenced Thursday to three years' probation.
Toni Fierro, 48, pleaded guilty in February to one count of child abuse.
Fierro was arrested in July after the boy was found with bruises on his biceps, buttocks and face and abrasions on his collarbone after being picked up from an overnight stay at Fierro's home day care.
Fierro told detectives the boy fell out of the car, she grabbed him by the arm and he landed on his buttocks, which she said were the reasons for bruises on those parts of his body.
Fierro admitted to being negligent when removing the boy from his car seat, but said she was not responsible for the other bruises on his body, according to court documents.
