Arizona’s attorney general is asking the state Supreme Court to set an execution date for the killer of a Bisbee man in 1978.
Edward Harold Schad was convicted of killing 74-year-old Lorimar Leroy Grove.
Grove was last seen leaving his Bisbee home in his Cadillac in August 1978 as he left to visit a relative in Washington state. His body was found outside Prescott days later with a cord around his neck.
Schad’s case will likely be considered early next year, The Arizona Republic reports. He’s now 70.
The state has executed five people this year. A sixth, Richard Stokley, is to be put to death Dec. 5. Stokley sent a letter to the state on Tuesday saying that he didn’t want a clemency hearing.
