A fancy watch, an expensive cup of coffee and some men’s underwear were among the $20,000 in purchases a Tucson credit card thief racked up in just 10 hours.

Pima County sheriff’s investigators are looking for a man who obtained a membership to an LA Fitness gym in Tucson to gain access to the locker room facilities and steal the credit cards, Deputy Tom Peine, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said.

Sometime before 10 a.m. Dec. 30, two credit cards were stolen. In less than an hour, the thief had already made his first purchase at Starbucks. Ten hours and $20,000 in purchases later, the spree ended with dinner at an El Charro’s restaurant. During the intervening hours, the man purchased electronics, jewelry and men’s underwear at a Tucson Macy’s department store, Peine said.

“It seems the suspect also frequented other LA Fitness gyms in the Tucson area and even in Phoenix and Scottsdale,” Peine said in a news release.

The man is about 6 feet tall, weighing 220 pounds. He has short salt-and-pepper hair with a receding hairline and he may speak with a Russian accent.

Anyone with information can call 911, 88-CRIME or Det. Laura Gil at 351-6634.
