Border Patrol agents working the Interstate 19 checkpoint caught two juveniles and one adult attempting to smuggle heroin taped to their bodies in separate incidents on Tuesday.
Agents sent three commercial shuttle vans for additional inspections at the checkpoint, a news release from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
Drug dogs discovered the hidden heroin taped to the suspects' waists.
Arrested were two 17-year-old U.S. citizens and a female Mexican national.
The combined weight of the drugs was 9 1/2 pounds and the estimated street value was about $100,000.
