Two men, including a teacher, were arrested and are facing sexual exploitation charges for attempting to lure a 13-year-old boy for sex, Tucson police said.

In July, Thomas Hand, 64, and Jaime Miguel Campos Jr., 26, were arrested by Tucson police detectives and federal authorities, said Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

Hand is facing charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual conduct with a minor, said Hawke.

Campos is facing charges of aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual conduct with a minor, Hawke said.

Both were booked into the Pima County jail.

Campos was employed as a kindergarten teacher in Sells. Detectives from the Internet crimes against children unit notified the superintendent of the school district in Sells, Hawke said.

During the investigation, detectives found out that Campos was a suspect in an unrelated case involving a young girl. That case was investigated by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Hawke said.

Police began investigating the case involving the teen-aged boy after the boy’s family reported they found numerous communications between the boy and men, said Hawke.

She said the boy was soliciting adult companionship, and had posted an advertisement last month.

Detectives began to correspond with Hand and Campos, pretending to be the teen. Detectives told the men they were communicating with an underage juvenile, but the men continued corresponding, Hawke said.

Hand and Campos described explicit sexual acts they wished to engage in with the boy. In addition, Campos sent explicit photographs to the boy, Hawke said.

Detectives established separate meeting places for both men, who believed they were meeting the boy, Hawke said. When the men showed up, detectives and U.S. marshals took the men into custody, said Hawke.
