The driver of an SUV involved in a fatal crash Saturday morning has been arrested.

Robert S. Ballesteros Jr., 41, was booked in to the Pima County jail Sunday on suspicion of second- degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated DUI and three counts of criminal damage.

Mandie Scammel, 22, was pronounced dead after the crash at South La Cholla and West San Marcos boulevards about 2:45 a.m., a Tucson Police Department news release said.

Ballesteros and his passenger were injured. He was arrested after his release from a hospital.

According to police, Ballesteros was southbound on La Cholla and was making a left turn when he crashed into Scammel's vehicle.
