A crash Monday morning in midtown created a hazardous material spill involving herbicide, Tucson Fire Department officials said.

A truck carrying glysophate, a type of weed killer, collided with a car near East 22nd Street and South Alvernon Way at about 9:30 a.m.

A tank of herbicide on the truck was not damaged, but the chemicals began leaking from a hose that was damaged in the crash.

Fire crews contained the spill using absorbant material and decontaminated the driver, who had chemicals on him.
