Bells will be ringing Tuesday morning throughout the community in remembrance of the Jan. 8, 2011, shooting.

The January 8th Memorial Foundation has called upon churches, schools and individuals to participate in a mass bell ringing at 10:10 a.m., approximately the time the shooting - that left six people dead and 13 wounded - began at a northwest-side Safeway two years ago.

Organizers say the bell ringing is inspired by a quote from poet Lord Tennyson meant to "ring in the common love of good."

One place where community members can pick up a bell and gather for the ringing is at the Ben's Bells Main Gate studio, 816 E. University Blvd., starting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The bells used for the ringing will then be distributed for people to find throughout town.

Also Tuesday, a TV interview with former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona and her husband will air.

ABC told The Associated Press that Giffords, who was wounded in the shooting, and Mark Kelly will speak about a new initiative they're launching.

The network didn't specify what the initiative aims to do.

The interview, by anchorwoman Diane Sawyer, will air at 4:30 p.m. Tucson time Tuesday.
