A 37-year-old Tucson man was arrested Wednesday after officers found nearly 384 pounds of marijuana in a shipment of corn tortillas.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred the driver of a Ford van for further inspection as he drove a van filled with corn tortillas through the cargo facility of the border crossing at Nogales, the agency said in a news release.
A drug dog detected the marijuana and officers say they uncovered 44 packages of pot worth about $192,000.
The unidentified man and the marijuana were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. The van was confiscated.
