A 19-year-old bicyclist died Wednesday evening after he collided with a tractor trailer at an intersection near the University of Arizona, police said.

The crash occurred at about 5:32 p.m. at East Broadway and Campbell Avenue, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Albert Rich was riding his bicycle in the westbound bike lane on Broadway at Campbell when he struck the truck's passenger door, Widmer said in a news release.

The truck was heading westbound on Broadway and was making a right turn onto Campbell when it collided with the bicycle.

Rich was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The truck driver was not injured.
