TEMPE — The Drug Enforcement Administration raided a medical-marijuana clinic in Tempe and arrested the clinic’s owner and his girlfriend.

James Chaney and Rachael Beeder were booked into Maricopa County jail, DEA spokeswoman Ramona Sanchez told The Arizona Republic.

Charges were pending. The two will most likely face charges of illegal distribution of marijuana, Sanchez says.

Chaney is the owner of Arizona Go Green Compassion Club, near Rural and Southern avenues.

The DEA was serving a search warrant for the location.

Sanchez says agents discovered the clinic was distributing marijuana for a fee in violation of federal law.

The investigation is continuing, and further arrests were possible.
