This year's 40 Under 40 winners have been selected.
The Star received an impressive 250 nominations for this year's awards, which recognize young leaders in the Old Pueblo based on professional accomplishments, leadership qualities and community impact.
The Star sponsors the awards along with the law office of Snell & Wilmer. The University of Phoenix sponsors the mentor of the year award.
The judging panel included last year's top winners: Andrea J. Romero, a University of Arizona Fitch Nesbitt associate professor; and Luis Carlos Davis, an award-winning director and producer.
Other judges were Lea Marquez-Peterson, president and CEO of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Renee Weatherless, director of administration, Arizona Daily Star; and Jill Jorden Spitz, the Star's assistant managing editor.
The winners will be honored at an awards breakfast Oct. 6, at the Doubletree Hotel, Reid Park, 445 S. Alvernon Way. The 40 Under 40 Man of the Year and Woman of the Year will be announced at the event.
