PHOENIX — Glendale police officers looking for a shooting suspect shot and killed a man after he came out of a residence firing a gun.

The confrontation occurred Thursday night at a west Phoenix apartment complex near 53rd Avenue and McDowell Road.

Det. Stacie Derge of the Phoenix Police Department said five officers were involved in the shootout, but none was hurt. She said Glendale police went to the complex following a daylong search for a suspect in a drive-by shooting.

The name of the suspect who was killed wasn’t immediately available.
