Crews with the Arizona Department of Transportation will begin work to trim trees and remove shrubs growing in the median of a 15.5 mile segment of Interstate 19 north of Nogales next week.
Starting on Monday, motorists traveling on I-19 north of Nogalesw ill encounter periodic weekday lane closures between the Customs and Border Protection Checkpoint, located near milepost 25 (kilometer post 41), to approximately one mile south of Yavapai Drive (milepost 10; kilometer post 16.1) from sunrise and sunset through mid-October, according to press release from ADOT.
Crews are scheduled to begin work on the southbound side of the median and finish with the northbound side.
The work will require left lane closures for several days each week and shoulder closures on the other days.
The posted speed limit through the entire project area will be reduced from 75 mph to 45 mph during work hours for the duration of the project.
