The fourth and final Legislative appointment for the Arizona Redistricting Commission is Tucson lawyer Linda McNulty.
Senate Minority Leader David Schapira nominated Lewis and Roca partner McNulty Tuesday to serve on the commission. McNulty, a Democrat, will join the three other Legislative choices:
• Senate President Russell Pearce picked Pima County Republican Richard Stertz
• House Minority Leader Chad Campbell picked Phoenix Democrat Jose Herrera
• House Speaker Kirk Adams picked Phoenix Republican Scott Freeman
In her application, McNulty said “a fair and balancced process for determining voting districts is foundation to preserving and enhancing government of the people, by the people and for the people.”
Her husband, Michael McNulty, was chairman of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ reelection campaign last year, but Linda McNulty said that would not affect her ability to be fair and impartial.
The four members already selected will, together, select the fifth member from a slate of five independents. They include Paul Bender, Raymond F. Bladine, Kimber L. Lanning and Margarita Silva, all from Maricopa County, and Colleen C. Mathis from Pima County.
