A 25-year-old man was arrested New Year’s Day after crashing his car into a parked photo radar van snapping photos of speeders in midtown.

Matthew Jones, was driving south on North Campbell Avenue when he veered off the road and struck the radar van, which was parked on the west side of the road between East Broadway and East Sixth Street, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

An employee of American Traffic Solutions, the company which operates the vans, was inside the vehicle when the crash happened and was not injured, Widmer said.

Jones and a passenger were also not injured.

Jones was arrested on suspicion of one count of felony criminal damage and one count of driving under the influence.

The equipment from the radar van was not damaged and was moved to another van.
