Remains discovered in the desert southwest of Tucson Friday have been identified.

The body of Jeffrey Scott Appel, 47, were discovered near West Ajo Highway and South Postvale Road, about four miles west of Ryan Airfield, by a woman who was taking a walk with her child and her dog just before sunset, Deputy Tom Peine, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a press release.

The body was wrapped in fabric and showed signs of trauma, Peine said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about Appel should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
