A fire that started in a backyard lumber pile and spread to a garage, seriously damaged an Audi parked inside, but did not spread to power lines or other structures.
Firefighters were called to the midtown blaze at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday. The home is located in the 3300 block of East Linden Street between North Country Club Road and North Palo Verde Boulevard. It took four minutes to bring the fire under control.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation though it was determined that the fire started in a lumber pile outside the garage and worked its way into the eaves and attic space of the garage, then worked its way down into the rest of the garage,” Capt. Barrett Baker, spokesman for the Tucson Fire Department, said in a news release.
The cost of damage has yet to be determined, he said.
Baker suggests homeowners keep combustible materials, such as lumber and foliage, away from structures.
"Removing the fuel from around a structure can prevent a brush fire from becoming a house fire,” he said.
