Tucson police are investigating two fires that were set deliberately, destroying two mobile homes in the Flowing Wells neighborhood.
On Tuesday evening a mobile home in the 1400 block of West Panama Lane, just off North Flowing Wells Road north of West Miracle Mile, was burned.
It was unoccupied, boarded up and being used by the owners for storage, said Capt. Barrett Baker, spokesman for the Tucson Fire Department.
Firefighters found heavy flames and high temperatures. It took 23 firefighters about 16 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
"Detectives responded and determined the fire to be an arson, and they're following up on some leads," said Sgt. Chris Widmer, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department.
Then Wednesday afternoon a few blocks to the south, in the 1100 block of West Miracle Mile, someone set fire to a shed and the fire spread to a mobile home, Baker said.
A nearby mobile home was damaged by the heat from the fire, but firefighters prevented the fire from burning it, he said.
It took 21 firefighters 10 minutes to get the fire under control.
The cost of damage in each case has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
