Oro Valley has scheduled a grand opening event for its Aquatic Center.
Festivities at the free event go from 5 to 10 p.m. March 15, and will include a community pool party, prize drawings, games, music, a dive-in movie with free popcorn and the Tucson Food Truck Roundup.
The aquatic center is at James D. Kriegh Park, 23 W. Calle Concordia.
“This is a huge day for our community,” Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath said in a news release. “Not only are we opening a competition-level facility that will draw athletes from around the nation, we are also now able to provide family-friendly amenities such as a slide and splash pad. There is something for everyone at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center.”
Olympic swimmers including silver medalist Lacey Nymeyer-John, will be on hand to have photos taken with attendees.
A slew of high-profile swimming events are slated to take place at the facility throughout the year.
