The Christmas story will come to life at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marana’s Continental Ranch community this weekend, and you don’t even have to get out of your car to participate.
The 70-year-old-plus church is holding a drive-through Live Nativity, with volunteers from the congregation assuming the roles of Mary and Joseph, shepherds and Roman soldiers.
Visitors will drive through the church’s parking lot and wind their way through several stations, where they will hear children and adults sing and hear Redeemer Pastor Adam Mueller tell the story of Christ’s birth. Participants will listen to Mueller through their car radios.
In addition to the volunteers, the cast will include a trio of sheep.
The drive-through Live Nativity, spearheaded by congregation member Tawnya Caldwell, is modeled after a similar event held at Word of Life Lutheran Church in Surprise. It will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Redeemer, 8845 N. Silverbell Road, in Continental Ranch.
Admission is free. For details go to redeemertucson.com online or call 572-8136.
