Catalina Mountain Elks Lodge No. 2815 received a $2,000 Grand Lodge Order of Elks Freedom Grant.

One of 100 to receive the distinction and funds, the lodge won the award because it adopted two units of the Marana-based Army National Guard Attack Helicopter Battalion.

Working in conjunction with American Legion Oro Valley Post 132, the lodge used $1,000 of the grant to buy care packages for soldiers deployed in Afghanistan. The Elks will use the rest of the grant to help the soldiers' families.
